Samburu is one of the lesser known game reserves of Kenya, but well worth the visit. On the banks of a river, there is plenty of trees and water to attract animals from far and wide. As with the rest of Kenya, anywhere you find an abundance of animals, you will find predators not too far behind.
The beauty of Samburu’s lesser known reputation is the lack of crowds making for a more intimate game experience than some other parks offer.
While in Nakuru, the famous images of millions of pink flamingos congregating on the surface of a soda lake is a familiar one at Lake Nakuru. It is here they gather in huge numbers to feed on the algae, making for a wildlife photographers dream come true. Yet there is more to Lake Nakuru than these bizarre looking birds. There is plenty of game to be spotted and the park is one of the best places in Africa to see the elusive Leopard.
An abundance of wildlife is on offer at Maasai Mara Game Reserve ranging from the smallest of insects and reptiles, to the largest mammal walking the earth. Have your camera ready at all times on this three day trip as there are surprises lurking behind every tree and under every rock.
Spend two nights in the famous reserve allowing you plenty of time to start ticking off the “Big Five” (Buffalo, Elephant, Leopard, Lion and Rhinoceros) or even the “Big Nine” (Cheetah, Zebra, Giraffe and Hippo). If wildlife is what you came to Kenya for, look no further.
